Habits – What Can They Do For Your Business Growth?
We all have them. They can be good, bad or indifferent. Most people tend to associate the word “habit” with a bad connotation (drug addicts have a habit, smokers have a habit)
But what if I tell you, that your business growth is dependant of you developing habits.
Aristotle said ““We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”
Ask yourself what habits do I need to develop to make my business succeed? BUT also ask yourself what habit do I need to kick to make my business succeed?
We all get comfortable with our daily routine, and it can be a bit of a challenge to change what is the norm.
Here’s a little exercise for you:
When you go to put your sock and shoes on tomorrow morning, stop and actually think about it. Which sock were you going to put on first, the left or the right one. Now I want you to put the sock on the foot you normally would not first. Guaranteed you will feel uncomfortable. If you do this for 30 days you will have created a new habit.
Here’s your challenge:
Can you now write a list of 5 simple things you could do each day, that would improve your business. Give your list a name eg “5 Simple Habits To Success”. Work on these 5 simple things for 30 days and you will have created 5 habits towards your business success. (I use google calendar, and reminders that pop up throughout the day to keep me on track)
After 30 days you can add another 5 things to that list
That’s my tip for today
PS; There are some great books out there to help you with this. Tom referred to “Power of Focus”, another great one is “7 Habits of Highly Effective People”
